| Reboot! |
[14 Nov 2006|11:00pm] |

So folks, we're taking a bit of a haitus now. Going to write a whack of new material, maybe get a new member, maybe even change our name. We'll see about those last two. If I feel like it, I'll keep you posted.

| Charity Concert |
[23 Sep 2006|07:04pm] |
Hey there everything,
We have the bill for the charity concert, and it's good.
City of a Hundred Spires http://www.myspace.com/cityofahundredspires + Danger Danger Mammoth Hunter (MTL) + Place http://www.myspace.com/place + Smoke Judo http://www.myspace.com/smokejudo + Glenn Nuotio http://www.myspace.com/glennnuotio
It'll be fun. I'm worried that doors are going to be late, though. If they're at nine I'm going to have to drop one of the bands, maybe two. That would suck.
I don't know if I told you before, but this is a charity concert for The Canadian Mental Health Association. It's going to be held at Babylon on October 11th. $5.
In other news, http://www.iheartmusic.net wrote a small article about us. It's not very favourable, but that's okay...I guess. It's rare to actually hear (or read) someone criticize us; it's fresh and exciting, but also a little depressing. Maybe he would have different opinions if he saw us live. I can only hope. And, while he may not like my vocals, at least he chose a sexy picture of me. Wish the rest of the band was in it.

| Dan's side-project |
[11 Sep 2006|01:29am] |
Hey everyone.
So, I don't know if he wants me to do this, but his music is too good to keep it quiet.
Dan has a side project, this side project has a myspace.
http://www.myspace.com/taunomusic
Tauno is his middle name. I had no idea about this. I've decided that I want to call him Tauno (pronounced "Town-o").
Anyway, who knows what he'll be doing with this, but honestly, take a look, it's good stuff.

| Chapter 7: The Manager |
[05 Sep 2006|02:48pm] |
Hello.
So, Place has a manager.
His name is Calum Marsh.
He's a good guy.
Hooray for Place.
Hooray for Calum.
Here is his blog:
http://mockingmusic.blogspot.com/
Enough of the simple stuff. Yeah, what this means is that Place can stop exclusively doing shows that they have put on. We can now open for bigger names, play to larger and newer crowds. No more will all our friends be expected to go to the shows in order to boost the numbers. Basically, somebody that is quickly becoming Ottawa's next Shawn Scallen has taken a chance on us, and hopefully it will play out well.
In other news, I'm helping andiras organize a charity show on October 11th at Babylon. It's going okay, but I'm having a bit of trouble finding acts that will play. I have two of the three, I just need a good headliner that is willing to play a Wednesday show and that will draw a crowd.
I'm sure it will all work out. It usually does. I've got to get moving and step it up a notch to get those acts. Damned time, moves too fast.
And while I don't usually use this thing as a blog very often, I figured I would tell people a couple of my opions of my weekend at Osheaga.
Flaming Lips and Sonic Youth made everything worthwhile. I also really enjoyed the Montreal band Think of Life.
What I can't believe is how strong a reaction Wolf Parade got from a number of people. Spencer Krug's Roland Jupiter didn't work. He spent literally about 20 minutes of their 45 minute set fooling around with the equipment to try and get a better sound. The exact same thing happened at the Ottawa show, and also with Sunset Rubdown at Zaphod's.
Everybody who has seen a Place show where our equipment has stopped working knows that it doesn't REALLY make that much of a difference to the over all sound. You just have to keep on going and hope for the best show you can do under the circumstances. Either that, or get a new goddamn Jupiter.

It's finally there.
Still a bit sparse, but it's there.
Also, an open letter to those attending the MSTRKRFT show:
Go, and be merry, but if you're thinking that you can't make it to our show, you can. They don't go on until 12:00. We're sort of hoping that you still come see us, and just treat us as the opening act, only at another venue. But, obviously do whatever you want.
There will be cheaper beer at our show.
And a final note, if you want to get a sneak peak at some of the album art for the EP, check out our new LJ layout.

| Xpress Review |
[20 Jul 2006|04:05pm] |
Three 1/2 headphones
Place we are so little (ind.)
The debut album from Ottawa's Place came with a warning: The advance copy the paper had been given had not been mastered yet. And oh yeah, avoid subwoofers and headphones. O-kay. On first listen it was pretty evident that We Are So Little is good that this rough cut could easily stand on its own despite the ominous warning. Sam Steadman, Andrew Pulsifer and Daniel Kaunisviita create something akin to Joy Division hybrid. And while wailing guitars and Ian Curtis-like laments tread gothic territory, twitchy beats and synths make for a nice contrast. The debut shows loads of potential. Can't wait to hear what the mastered album sounds like. The CD launch Saturday, July 22, at 8 p.m. at Club Saw with City of a Hundred Spires and Vanier, $8. (Matt Harrison)
So that's the review, folks. Also there is the Fateema article on page C9 of today's Citizen. We finally have something to out in a press kit.

Hey everyone,
Check out both the Citizen's arts section and the Xpress reviews page tomorrow...you may see some familiar faces.
Then again, Xpress might not even like the EP, if that's the case, then just ignore it.
